Laurel Cemetery Sign Reveal & Commemoration Ceremony
Join us for a meaningful ceremony honoring Laurel Cemetery, a historic burial ground where thousands of Black Baltimoreans — including civic leaders, veterans, and families — were laid to rest. Over the years, the site was neglected and disrupted by development. This event marks the formal unveiling of a historical sign that recognizes and commemorates the cemetery’s legacy and those buried there.
We will be joined by the City of Baltimore Law Department, Senator Cory McCray, Delegate Jackie Addison, along with additional dignitaries and community leaders.
The program will include a formal ceremony, a blessing of the land, and the sign reveal. This is a public event open to all who want to learn, reflect, and pay respect.
Our goal is to connect directly with the community. Years of dedicated research have been conducted, including locating death certificates and uncovering the history of the site. We invite as many community members as possible to join us in raising awareness — as we hope to identify descendants of those who may still be buried here and honor their legacy.
We hope you can join us for this important occasion and be part of preserving and celebrating our shared history.
