Eagle Scout Project at Old St. Paul’s Cemetery
November 3, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
Reaching out for help and support with Christian Gross’ Eagle Scout Project. The project will be cleaning and restoring the Old St. Paul’s Cemetery, the oldest cemetery in Baltimore. The Cemetery was the original burial ground for Frances Scott Key and has a host of prominent US figures such as Brig Gen Lewis Armistead (Civil War), Col. George Armistead
(War of 1812) and John Eager Howard (Revolutionary War), and Samuel Chase (signer of Declaration of Independence and Supreme Court Justice). You will see chest tombs, table tombs, vaults, barrel burials and even graves with bells. This will be the first Eagle Scout project at the Cemetery since 1940. Work will include planting trees/flowers/shrubs, cleaning debris andtrash, mowing/weeding/edging and a chance to enter a historic registered site. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. We request volunteers bring gloves, rakes and shovels. A light snack and
refreshment will be provided to all that help.
Parking Meters on adjacent streets, some free on nearby streets if available.
RSVP by November 1st to Christian’s mother, Jeannette, at JeannetteLMeurrick@hotmail.com
