DAR Day of Service – Old St. Paul’s Cemetery, Baltimore
October 19, 2019 @ 8:30 am - 12:30 pm
The DAR will be having our Day of Service activity at Old St. Paul’s Cemetery on 707 Redwood St., Baltimore, MD. The cemetery is actually in pretty good shape, but there are things we can help with to make it shine a little brighter.
Feel free to bring family and friends to help with this activity. If you have young people in your life that need service hours, this is something they can earn credit for. If you have boy or girl scouts that need a project in the community, this would count toward that.
We will have options from which you can choose to participate.
If you have a push mower, a weed wacker, a small chain saw, rakes, clippers, and/or yard gloves – please bring them. There is yard work aplenty for those that wish to do that. The John Eager Howard crypt is a mess and overgrown. There is a tree by the MLK street side that can use a bit of help. There are several “volunteer” trees that need to be cut down. And we can use some help cutting the ivy from the base of several of the trees and redirecting them.
We will also be cleaning gravestones with products to help tidy them up. We will have scrubbing materials to help with the cleaning of the grave stones. So if you are not in for the yard work, this might be something you can help with. Again, please bring yard gloves.
Our conservator, Robert Mosko, will be on site, to help and give guidance to all. Carpooling is encouraged as parking is limited.
We will have water and provide lunch. Please RSVP to whimsi21@aol.com so we can get a headcount of those interested in participating.
Thank you all in advance for your continuing support of this historic cemetery.
Regards,
Cathy Ohler
