Anne Arundel Genealogical Society Presentation

February 6, 2020 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

A Genetic Genealogy Study of the Early Founders of Colonial MD and their Contemporary Descendants

Tom Watkins, an attorney from Texas, and Paul Watkins, a geneticist from California, are fifth cousins who met through genealogy research and discovered a common interest in their Watkins ancestors from Anne Arundel County. Together they started a genetic genealogy project to identify the descendants of the original founders of the county and to compare their DNA to see if any traits could be discovered. In addition to Watkins, other names in their study include Dorsey, Worthington, Howard, Ridgely, Griffith, and Benson.
