African King Visits Westbard’s Moses Cemetery
October 12, 2019 @ 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Please join the Macedonia Baptist Church (Bethesda, Montgomery County, MD) in a non-political event to foster healing and reconciliation regarding the displacement and enslavement of African people.
As part of the international Roots to Glory Project, Westbard’s Moses African Cemetery is honored to host the King of Porto Novo, Benin at Moses Cemetery —the Reconciliation site for the State of Maryland. Four years ago, King Toffa IX was given a brief description of what Africans endured on American plantations. He was overcome with emotion and dedicated himself to visiting and commemorating known African grave sites around the United States. The Reconciliation Tour will stop in Maryland, Virginia, Louisiana, North Carolina and South Carolina.
The ceremony will begin at MBC and will continue across River Road at Westbard’s Moses Cemetery (Westwood Tower Parking Lot)
