The Coalition to Protect Maryland Burial Sites is pleased to announce our 31st Statewide Conference and Annual Meeting in historic Frederick on Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. The day will be educational, fun, and full of collegiality!
After the May 1st deadline for in-person attendance, people may still join us virtually via Zoom.
Speakers and topics include:
- Stories in Stone: The History of Frederick’s Mount Olivet and Recent Preservation Efforts and Programming
Chris Haugh, Community Relations and Historic Preservation Manager, Mount Olivet Cemetery - Advances in Identification of Historical Burials: Case Studies of Catoctin Furnace and Darnall’s Chance
Dr. Douglas Owsley, Curator of Biological Anthropology, Smithsonian Institution - Finding Names in Stone
Bryan Main, Author and Frederick County Researcher
The day will include a brief annual meeting, educational videos, presentation of Periwinkle Awards, the popular Open Forum and Group Discussion which aims to include participants from every Maryland county, and will conclude with a tour of historic Mount Olivet Cemetery. Join us to talk about cemetery activities, express concerns, share ideas, and ask for help.

- For those unable to attend, donations are very much appreciated.
