The Coalition to Protect Maryland Burial Sites is pleased to announce our 34th Statewide Conference and Annual Meeting in Cambridge on Saturday, May 2, 2026 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Christ Church Whatley Parish Hall located at 607 Church Street, Cambridge, MD 21613. This event will be educational, fun, and full of collegiality!
The day will include:
- Coalition highlights from the past year
- “Truth Be Told”, Myths and Facts That Lay Beneath the Graves of African American Cemeteries, presented by Elinor Thompson
- Maryland Cemetery Legislation, presented by Eileen McGuckian and David Zinner
- Lunch — a variety of sandwiches (including vegan options) and dessert
- Dorchester County Cemetery Inventory, presented by Ashley Samonisky
- Dorchester County Burial Site Preservation Board conversation
- The popular Open Forum for cemetery networking and discussions
- Tour options of local cemeteries!
The day will include a brief annual meeting, presentation of Periwinkle Awards, the popular Open Forum and Group Discussion which aims to include participants from every Maryland county, and will conclude with a tours the Christ Church Cemetery and Cambridge Cemetery. Join us to talk about cemetery activities, express concerns, share ideas, and ask for help.
- In-person registration is $50 for members, $55 for non-members, $25 for students. Lunch is included. Water and ice tea will be offered.
- For those unable to attend, the event will be recorded for our YouTube channel. Donations are very much appreciated.
You will find a large, free parking lot at the Dorchester County Office Building (501 Court Lane, Cambridge, MD 21613), just two blocks away.
